What a nice surprise it was to find this site!
It was back in '75 that the Dagenham Roundhouse was stopping gigs, someone told us about the Bridgehouse so we went to see what it was like and I think I propped up the bar nearly every night for the next couple of years. Even after that I would drop in to see the occasional band.
Going there changed my life in a way cos it was there that I got to know the band Smiler which then lead to me being a roadie/drunken oaf for them(depending how many light&bitters I sunk). This then lead on to me being a lighting engineer working with John(Beaky) who did lights for many bands at the Bridgehouse and the Ruskin Arms as well as many other places around London. The lighting thing then lead to me becoming a promoter, something that I only stopped earlier this year. Never made any money out of all this but I had one helluva good time along the way
