Hi Colin, just finished a page to you, but have lost it so here we go again.

This Picture of Chris Thompson and Rod De`ath, is not the same night, in the pic i have Chris Has Shorter hair and different cloths so keep search you archieve Col, these pictures are Great.
Rod I have been informed is a very sick man, i will keep you updated.
in the last few years we have also lost Steve Waller, and Lou Martin so sad ,great guys.
In your picture the posters on the back of the stage, tell a story, Zaine Griff had left the band Screemers, to form a new one, so all the other guys Matt Irvine Bernie Clark Dave Flett to name some of them formed The Sprinklers
so that filled Monday And Tuesday for me, well done Col. big thanks

I think I'm right in saying that Dave Flett and Matt Irving played alongside Chris Thompson in Manfred Mann's Earthband.........

Right.......

Nearly Right Colin, as you know Chris Thompson was Manfreds Lead Vocalist,do you remember us playing Blinded by the light, there hit song, funny we would not play it while Chris was at the Bridge,he was that kind of guy,did not want any glory .
Matt Irvine played in a lot of gigs for us,he was always the last to leave what ever time it was 3/4 am.
I do not think he played for manfred may have done a few sessions.he last band over here was on TV with the Jools Holland band i use to watch it .

Yes Dave Flett was Manfred Guitarist, there other hit Davys on the road again was a mimic of him.T.M

I'll check that out. I thought Matt Irvine joined the Earthband in 1980 or 81. After Zaine Griff and Special Branch (with Dave Flett). I've got most of thier albums on 12" Vinyl. I may be wrong but I'm sure Matt played guitar and bass on at least 3 or 4 albums with MMEB.

These may be the albums

"Somewhere In Africa"
"Live In Budapest"
"Masque"
"Criminal Tango"

Matt Irving did play bass on MMEB's 1982 Somewhere in Europe Tour as well as the Somewhere in Africa album. He can be seen and heard on the Budapest Live CD and DVD. Also check out Youtube.
Incedently the two backline techs for that tour were Colin Barton and former Dogwatch frontman Roy Weard.
Roy is also credited for "acting" where his robot mime at the start of Blinded By The Light can be seen on Youtube. Also check out You Angel You where the entire crew can can across the stage at the start of CT's solo
