I started going to the Bridgehouse in the early 70’s around the time Canning Town flyover was being built. I remember bands like Freedom, Slowbone and Power Pack around that time. So it was a surprise that a couple of years ago when I still lived in East Ham, that I saw at East Ham Working Mans Club, Terry (Dunno his surname), the lead guitarist out of Power Pack playing there…he still plays a mean guitar!

Yes Powerpack, played the Bridge regularly, after many requists from the customers ,i got then to get a reunion together,
(they had split up),Terry ,Bobby Harrison, Monaghan.Saunders, who had formed Freedom, they came and did a great gig,but they said it would only be a one off,and it was.
although they all came back at different times,in other bands.

Slowbone, played many times for me,they changed there name to ,The Roll ups,Barry hart became Lea Hart,With Jeff Peters,on bass guitar, Bridge house records, included them on the Live a week at the Bridge Album.and they record a single and a Album, Low dives for high Balls. Which can be view on our Web site

Hi Robbo,

Yeh, Terry was playing guitar and on vocals with a very good female vocalist, billed as "Cracker" when I saw them at East Ham Working Mans Club a couple of years ago. As your mate rightly said, Terry is still a great guitarist!

Adrian,

I'm not really sure but I would guess that they were taken between 1972 and 1974.

Peter,

If you've got a more positive date let us know....................

115 Degrees more like it Adrian........................

But the casinos on the Strip all have Air Conditioning, Big Beds and Lots Of Handles To Pull...................

Me getting down LA is quite possible in the near future. If I do get down there I'll definitely be in touch.

Same goes for you, if you are coming up North. Just remember that you'll need an umberella and a pint sized................. COFFEE CUP.

Add me to the list  who thought Terry was an exceptional guitarist, but well backed, by, I believe  Terry on drums Rudy on Bass and Dave on Hammond organ.
I am in the process of compiling a list of songs they used to play,  it was quite a range from Uriah Heep,Deep Purple, to Stevie Wonder and Steely Dan.
The pictures are about 1968 to 70 ,as the person who took them contacted me.
Hopefully we could contact Terry Newman ,as it seems he may still be playing, it would be good to tell him how Powerpack still have a place in our memories.
