Having just seen a prog rock programme on BBC4 in the early hours it showed a recording by Caravan -The dog ,the dog he's at it again.
Which was another Terry sang but can't remember if it was Powerpack or Deep Feeling.
It's an unusual one ,but can be seen on youtube.

World's greatest cover band IMHO :

Here are some of their early ones, I am sure some others will pop up from the ageing memory banks  Grin

Rene The Docker's Delight       (The Faces I believe)
The Israelites                       (Desmond Decker)
Stormy Monday
Long Grey Mare
Crossroads

One "fun number" they wrote (IIR Rudy and Terry) was called:
"Pluck that Chicken".

Phil - On the other thread you said you roadied a bit ,were you the one who owned the black bedford van with the cross with a loop  on the back doors .
I followed PP all over ,BH P&H,Ruskin and even the Walmer Castle in Peckham for a short while.
Have you gone through and seen the old photos on here ,that really takes you back.
As I've said before ,Terry N still plays , with a girl singer , what he describes as soft rock.

Firstly a happy new year to all Bridge House fans and to Terry for keeping the memories going. This is an update I have been meaning to write for sometime following up on the recording I made.In the process of sorting out file sharing website so that people can download rest of recordings (Nels look out for this) .May also be able to put some more photos on this as well as I have been contacted by David P.who has another 30 which he reckoned was taken in 1970 one sunday lunch gig just waiting for him to get back to me about this. Also Terry N. did send us a reply back last year in April but have heard nothing since then ...well at least showed he is still around lets hope one day he or some of the group can begin writing a few memoires.I guess though that the recording I made will be the only survivor ,so a nice legacy to them.Watch this space

Check out this file  http://www.4shared.com/dir/ru0VjqPb/sharing    don't expect studio quality
as this was recorded on my Phillips mono portable cassette player  with the mic sitting on
the table next to my beer !...,keep posts coming and does anybody remember who the drummer
was with the band at this time...great solo on Soul Sacrifice.....cheers to you all

Thats great ,thanks for putting the effort in , I have managed to listen to some but haven't got the hang of saving them and putting them on a disc yet ,(may need my daughters help).
Will give a review later.
I went past the Ruskin today ,all scaffolded up and about to be converted into flats.

Thats sad to hear about Ruskin...end of an era...and going the same way as so many boozers these days but some
good news as just gone past the Cart and Horses Maryland Point near Stratford ,one of the old pubs on the 'East End Circuit' and its still going strong with groups still playing there.Like the board outside which proclaims 'BIRTHPLACE OF IRON MAIDEN'....is that really true ?

Hi Rob ,yes i saw that on Monday when i past the pub, they did play there a few times,as did a few other band Scarecrow.Slowbone.  Dave n Den first band. But when i arrived at the Bridge house they all came to me,we could get a lot more customers in the pub so we could pay more money,ALSO WE DID Advertise in all the music press N.M.E Melody maker etc  so they got better know  Maiden played the Bridge while my brother was the licence in 1973 even before they called themselves Smiler, that's the history but one other important fact Dennis Stratton took over the licence of the pub in the 90s he was there for a few years this would be after he left Iron Maiden,So Dennis was a publican for  WHILE not many people know that Terry M

Hi All

I recently contacted BH2 to ask about the possibility of getting Terry Newman from Powerpack to do a turn there. I know from previous posts that he is still performing in one way or another. Tony (the proprietor) has asked for contact details, so I assume from this that he is willing to give it a shot.
I'm sure you know what is coming next - I don't have any idea of how Terry can be contacted, or indeed whether or not he would consider appearing at the venue. But as a die-hard Powerpack fan, I want to try to make it a reality. Does ANYBODY have contact details for this very talented singer guitarist who was for me at least, the definitive musician and sound of the Bridgehouse?

Ever hopeful

The last time I saw Terry at the EHWMC he said the other members had  all called it a day on the music side of things,so the only chance is if he will consider performing as the duo with his young lady singer.
I have somehow lost his phone number but will do my utmost to find it again from other contacts.

Seems like we are not going to hear any more from Terry N.as now over 6 months from the last post and 'Hope and Anticipation ' looks to have gone cold.I will try to upload a few photos of the band which have been taken to the 4 shared website in due course which hopefully will not be the last topic on the band ,but only time will tell.
also................just in case people out there have not heard yet the Standard in Blackhorse road Walthamstow another one of the great rock pubs  is closing at the end of the year .....another sad loss for us all.
