Like A Mother F*cker, Only Music For Uplifting Gourmandisers (I think), and Country, Blue Grass & Blues. All from the NYC side of punk, although the guy who ran CBGBs was like Terry in as much as he wasnt really into punk. It just happened in his club!

Hello Terry, it was a good night but the turnout was low. Probably coz there was a do on at York Hall just down the road as you know. No Rejects music as Mick had to go up north to record some extra guitar at the last minute. We are off to NYC on monday and things are starting to take off for MissPrint now. See ya soon,

I dont remember that one Terry, although I do remember him dedicating "Do The Caveman" for me, the first time they ever played the song live at the Bridge. Some people thought that he was having a little dig as I wasnt with the band any longer and didnt want to dress that way,  but I loved the song and knew exactly why he dedicated it to me.

One night in mid 79, just after Charlie and me had moved out of the Kings Cross squats I got lucky. I pulled a girl called Trisha who was one of the Basildon lot. We needed somewhere to for the night so I suggested we go back to the old squat. She was much further from home than me so she agreed and off we went after a good night out at the Music Machine in Camden. We got in ok, found a mattress and did what you do. Next thing I know Trisha Is calling me and there is a blinding light. I try and shake off my drunken stupor and was met by two men and a woman standing over us, with a bright flashlight. They had kicked the front door down. Trisha was covering herself and I didnt know what the fek was going on. They asked her who I was. She told them my name then they asked me the same. I asked who they were and they got real stroppy. They kept asking me who I was and then they told me that they were drug squad. They didnt believe anything I said and kept on and on. One of them flashed an ID card at us and then I had a good idea. I was working for North Thames Gas at the time and had just been given a laminated ID card of my own. I had bid spiked up hair in the photo for the card and it looked like some kind of joke. The old bill didnt believe that it was real, but in the end they left us alone and went away. Trisha woke me in the morning and gave ma a real telling off. She said that I had gone straight back to sleep as soon as plod had left the room and that she had spent the rest of the night terrified about who may come in next. It all seemed like a dream to me.

When I first met Yvonne she was only 17 and from a polish speaking family. I would go to her house and meet lion wrestling hair dressers and fat eel fishermen who all drank spiritos (140% how can that be?) and sang strange songs in a funny language. It was great to me and completely different to my sheltered east end upbringing!
Late one night me and Yvonne did what teenagers do on her parents living room floor, but fell asleep in position. We were woken by her dad going ballistic! He ran back upstairs to get Yvonnes mum. I jumped up and tried to get my drainpipes on (no stretchy fabric back then) and kept falling over. The family were coming so I closed the door and lent on it whilst trying to get my strides on. I wanted to ask Yvonne what to do but she had vanished! I felt bad and didnt know what to do so I opened the door and hid behind it. Yvonne was in a cupboard I found out later!
They all ran in, and I ran out to the outside toilet. I got my strides on but didnt have any thing else and was standing there feeling very embarrassed. I could hear screaming and shouting in a strange language and I was cringing. They shouting got louder and they came out and began banging on the toilet door. I wasnt coming out but could hear that they were getting a bit angry. Yvonnes dad thought that I was scared and began to pump his chest and was getting brave and threatening me. She was telling him that I wasnt scared and he was asking why I was hiding. All this was in polish so I had no idea what was going on. Then I heard what I thought was Yvonne and her dad fighting so I ran out and screamed at him to let her go. He dissapeared upstairs and was not seen again! I quickly got out and went home in Yvonnes beaver lamb coat wearing no shoes as I didnt want to go back in the house for my clothes.
I didnt go back round there for ages as I was too embarrassed but after about a month I tried the waters and knocked for her. I was shown in and Yvonnes dad came over to me and said congratulations! He said that we should go for a drink to celebrate, and Yvonne was standing behind me winking and nodding. I was wondering what was happening when the dad and me were sent to the pub.
We walked to the end of the road and got a beer and he asked me how long we had been married! I nearly choked and asked what he knew about it. He thought that we had been married for a while and asked why we hadnt told him! I didnt know what to say and it was the most awkward moment of my life. I managed to blag my way thru and went back after the one drink to confront Yvonne. She told me that her dad had informed all the neighbours of our night on the floor and was getting the sympathy vote from all the old gossips who thought that I was the big bad wolf.
One of the gossips had stopped Yvonnes mum in the street and had offered her, her sympathy on the plight of her daughter! Yvonnes mum wasnt happy about doing the washing in public and informed the old bag that Yvonne and me were married and were only doing what all married couples do! The gossip woman was very embarrassed and apologised. Next time the gossip saw Yvonnes dad she gave him a real dressing down and he came home asking questions. This was just before I came round so no one had the chance to tell me.
When we really did get married we had to keep it a secret as he thought we were married already! My dad couldnt get over it when I told him why Yvonnes dad wasnt at the wedding.

Still in NYC and have just finished the show. We had a drink in Brooklyn today then walked back across the bridge to Manhattan.
Popped into the old CBGBs, then up to handsome Dick Manitobas bar. Dick was the singer in the Dictators and as luck would have it was in the bar with his wife and young son. We had a drink and a chat and he seems like a nice guy. The whole bar is plastered in old photos and memorabilia and is worth a visit. Dick (everyone calls him Richard) normally only shows up on saturday nights so we got lucky.
There is a special Joey Ramone (10th birthday?) tribute show tonight at the Irving Plaza and Dick is supposed to be doing a version of Sonic Reducer with Cheetah Chrome. He didnt seem too enthusiastic and wasnt sure wether to go or not. We then went onto Ottos Shrunken Head, which is a punk/tiki bar and has bands playing most nights. It was still early and full of fat black men! Maybe they go home when the bands come on? We didnt stay and went on to the Plaza to check it out. Its $25 to get in and already busy. We came home to eat and our old friend jet lag has started to kick in. Its like a monkey on your back. Dont know if its the beer or the jet lag but none of us fancy it any more. Still gotta pack as we are coming home tomorrow. If we do go ill tell you how it was.
