Well, to start the ball rolling, who can guess who chewed my head off for pulling a FLAT pint of GUINNESS......... Who then came behind the bar and showed me the RIGHT way to pour a pint of Guinness........... Now, think about it..............

HI Colin,

no mad English man ,would know how to pull a pint of Guinness,so you are not mad.I would like to say I taught you to pull the pint. But if i remember rightly, it was Gerry McAvoy, after one of his Jam sessions, Am I right?

Regards Terry M

What is on the top,of a perfect pint of Guinness?

You got it.......... It was after Gerry's first gig at the Bridge. The pub had closed and for some reason you told me to go behind the bar and pull a pint of Guinness for Gerry. Damn, I get an inch of beer and six inches of froth.........

That's when Gerry said "If I'm going to play here on a regular basis you need to know how to draw a pint of ale". I think I learnt because he never complained again.

What's on top of a pint of Guinness. A GOOD HEAD.................

Colin have heard the latest regarding guinness(not Ted McKenna Rory Gallaghers drummer)

Guiness is being sold red in colour, can you beleive that Red Guinness, i guess the froth will still be white, wonder what  McAvoy will say about that.

I've drunk GREEN Guinness, but haven't heard about a RED brew. Over here they sold Green Guinness for St. Patricks Day this year.

If you have,i would like one for the book,
I have the one that was published in the Newham Recorder, the last night with me on Stage with the guys.

Hey Mister T.

Did Gerry McAvoy ever arrange a jam with Salt's Stevie Smith doing most of the vocals. I've got a tape here labelled Salt-McAvoy Jam. It does not sound like the other tape that I've got of a Salt gig but there are a few of the Salt tunes on it.

Okay . I'll listen more carefully to the tracks. My memories of Gerry's jams always include Lou Martin, Rod DeAth and Steve Waller. But, I'll be damned if I can remember Stevie Smith on stage with them................

Just goes to show how many beers I used to drink. Right ..............

Here's a vid from the OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST in March 1976 of Bullfrog Blues.

Rory Gallagher - Gerry McAvoy - Rod De'Ath - Lou Martin.

The jam sessions that Gerry arranged were always one of my favorites at the BH.

This quote from Terry :-

well the old voice,is a lot gruffer,or croacker, slower speech.and this was caused by shouting Lets have them glasses you are well pass time.remember we closed at 11pm week ends, when you were sitting at the bar 2 or 3 in the morning ,i was still shouting these lines.

Brings back so many memories. I'll never forget one late night after the pub had closed Gerry, Rod and Lou and a few others were still in the bar in the early hours when Lou bet me some ridiculous amount that he could drink more than me before Terry threw us out.

Well, I was game for anything in those days. The only trouble being that Lou was drinking shorts and I was still on pints trying to match each other one for one. To this day I still don't know who won the bet. It must have been one of those times that Terry had to take me home.

Here's the link to the vid................ Enjoy. It's just over 9 minutes in length and has a one and a half minute drum solo by Rod. Also, try to keep up with Lou's fingers and Gerry's head banging.

And yet another vid of Rory Gallagher. This one seemed important to me and it may be worth keeping.

This is a short 4 minute clip from what I have been told was  Rory's last ever TV appearance on Ulster TV in 1994.
