If only I'd known about this site years ago! Very many happy memories of the Bridge, circa 80/81, some great bands and great times.
Does anyone remember or know anything about World Exit (formerly Electrix then The Floise)? They played the Ruskin on a fairly regular basis, frontman was called Cazz Bekk or Begg or something like that, had an amazing voice, GLC was one of theirs, did a cracking version of Nutbush City Limits too.
Anyway, would be grateful for any info at all, and look forward to seeing the BH book (nice one Terry).

Your link works and it brought back some good memories for me too Terry I've just realised who John Squires is! It's taken me ages as I only ever knew him as Johnny Reggae, I was good mates with him too and Tony the bass player. There was also another guy who was always with them who took loads of photos at gigs but I can't remember his name, he possibly went out with John's sister but I'm not sure after all this time.

hi there
Does anyone know for sure what cazz real name was. never managed to find out for sure. Laurence Cassard was the name i heard most. Guitar was Johny Reggae (John Squires?). Bass Tony Clarke and Drums Martin Alan.
found some old tapes and these are most of thier tracks; Down In The City you Better Run Nutbush City Limits I Dont Mind (Lordy Lordy) 25 years Gimme Some Truth GLC Hustler Sweet Little Rock'n'Roller Feet Facts are Facts The Initiation Now ive Got You Here Are you sure im what you need Time Things Are Getting Better The Myth I Dont Mind I am Somebody Harry
Dont remember the Floise incarnation but i must have seen them at least once as i found a Floise badge. Got some other Farewell Dec '83 Electrix badges so i guess this is when they changed to World Exit. Cazz gave me a demo Tape of World Exit but i cant find the damn thing now. Any other info you have id love to hear.

hi
i moved to wales for 10 years so lost track of everything from here. ive cleaned up one of the world exit tracks its probably the best recording i have of cazz as the ones i recorded didnt do justice too him at all.
ive lost my 1983 diary which had all the electric dates (didnt really have anything else in it) i went to in it.
think ill have to do another page but i dont have much to put on about world exit.
if anyone knows anything about electrix floise or world extit id like to hear it. please let me know.

Borgbaiter, I must have seen you about at the Electrix gigs as I was sat at the lighting desk for many of them. My mate John owned the light rig, he was quite tall with long fairish hair and a nose that you couldn't miss while I was the shorter one with long dark hair, normally wearing a leather jacket and at many of the Ruskin gigs had my Ducati 900 parked right outside the door-alot of people knew me because of that bike, it was so loud that it could be heard over the noise of the bands!

The Corvettes supported Dogwatch at the Ruskin in 78. Hardly anyone wanted to come to the gig as it wasnt exactly a punk friendly pub! We turned up on the 101 bus and had to carry everything in thru the pub to the stage. I was the oldest at 18. The others were 15 and 17 and after looking inside they didnt want to go in. I had to carry all the gear in myself with the others hiding behind me. When we eventually set up, the drum kit collapsed at the beginning of the first song. Shouts of 'Tesco's drumkit' could be heard. As we were about to restart Ken Scott came in and gave us a wave. This gave me a massive confidence boost and Ken said later it was one of our better gigs. After the gig I was at the bar when a massive biker in a wooly hat came over to me and said 'what was that song that you did twice?' I thought he was going to complain but he patted me on the shoulder and said 'I liked that one'. We had one bit of trouble from a stroppy women who didnt want to let us past with the bass drum as we were leaving, but her old man came along and smoothed it over and we were gone. I had learnt my lesson not to hang around too long in unfamiliar places! Lee.
