Glen was talking to Alan Curbishley, in Alan’s office after the victory over Everton, at West Hams Stadium, Alan revealed the new plans for the future where the Hammers would be playing. Glen had been telling Alan about the book I had written about the Bridge house in Canning town Alan new the Bridge because he had spent many night there with his team mates from West Ham, he and Paul Brush would arrive and meet his brother Paul and soon to be captain Alvin Martin a few times every week. Alan revealed the new Stadium would be built on the site where the Bridge house once stood.on the corner of Barking Rd and Stephenson St and would extent well left of that spot, and round to Bidder St where my Grandfather John married and fetch up my father and all the Murphy’s. Alan’s Parents, old  home is also less than a 100 yards away in Gainsbough,Rd.were he grew up .This was great news to hear, and I hope it will not block the Idea ,that has been discussed by me and all the councillors of Newham, about a blue plaque being place on the sacred ground were the Bridge house once stood. The day after the game Alan visited Glen and Linda at the Spotted Dog in Bishops Green Dunmow Essex, there family pub were daughter Glastra and  partner Sean are the licensees

At the Match Glen was also in the company of his good friend Ray Winstone, who has agreed to write a few sentences of the times, when he visited the Bridge house, after boxing training in his youth,he and Glen were both members of West Ham and Repton boxing clubs

Well it looks like this has been confirmed, I read about it in our local ,Newham recorder
paper. They are also building a new Raiway station close by in Star Lane.there use to be a walkway over the railway lines, it was called pegaleggy steps, after the war ended i use to  have to walk over them to get coke for our fire, on the other side to the gas works .That is so interesting isnt it. ha ha

I believe Love Hearts were first made in Star Lane before relocating to the East Midlands after the Blitz.  No wonder so many of us took girls up on Peggy Leggy Steps for a bit of romance.  Ah those magic moments when you were swirled up in the smoke from a loco passing below.  Brief Encounter East End style!!
